About
Hello. My name is Mariam and I’m from Canada.
Generally, that would be the extent of my About Page but let’s begin this contest on the right foot.
I write for my flagship blog Money Relations which is an Investing for Beginners blog. In other words, I’m the investing beginner.
Being a Gen-Xer with a few years of employment under my belt, I realized quickly enough that working the standard 9-5 (and much longer) was not for me. Don’t get me wrong. I actually like my place of work. Still, there’s something aggravating about not having the freedom for… I dunno, just whatever. Maybe it’s because I have a free spirit.
But what was I going to do about it? Then things like “house, family, children, early retirement” start popping into your head - big responsibilities with dollar signs attached.
So, it was time to get serious and start doing “grown up” things, like planning for the future. This meant learning to invest and having multiple streams of income so I could even contemplate having a comfortable lifestyle in the near future.
YAWN. To be honest, that all sounded a bit stodgy - or at least it did to me. But I can’t tell you how important it is to be aware of our own finances. Just ask the numerous 80s child actor flameouts… but I digress.I decided to add blogging into the mix to kill two birds with one stone. My primary goal was to learn about finances and my secondary goal was to learn about blogging which had been talked about ad nauseum in mainstream media. Since I work in the web technology field, for my career preservation, it was prudent to learn about blogging basics.I didn’t know how far I’d get with either goals and I’d seen many blogs die of neglect. Still, being the good little planner that I am, I thought that if I ever grew weary of my finance blog, I’d at least have a legacy of investment knowledge under my belt with my insights written down. It’s fun reading my own ramblings. And as always, once you start blogging, little dollar signs start dancing in your head. Well, mine have two left feet and I sat down quickly enough. Blogging is hard work, y’all. Good thing I do it for the enjoyment of making snarky comments or I’d starve. So then Vic comes along with his Mission Possible challenge. Hello… This guy is offering to teach us how to create multiple streams of income online which runs in parallel with my own goals of multiple investment income and learning Internet technology. Even though I have more than enough responsibilities right now, this is an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. If I wore hats, I’d have thrown one into the ring.I am very much looking forward to learning from someone who actually does this for a living and who can reproduce results over and over again. My sincere thanks to Vic for the opportunity and I’m looking to pay it forward.
